Slovenia — The Dispatches

Ljubljana

Slovenia's small, car-free capital, watched over by a dragon — the city's emblem, coiled on the Dragon Bridge and up on the castle hill. A riverside old town largely reshaped by one architect, Jože Plečnik, willow-lined embankments and open-air markets, and gorges and alpine lakes a short hop out. Green, walkable, and easy to love.
